Six missing after migrant boat sinks off Greek island

Six people were missing after an inflatable boat carrying refugees and migrants sank off the island of Leros in the Aegean Sea, Greece's Coast Guard said on Thursday.

A total of 49 passengers were rescued, according to a press statement.

The nationalities of the survivors have not been clarified so far.

A search and rescue operation was underway.

Another operation has been launched in parallel to trace any survivors from the sinking of another boat off the coast of the southern Peloponnese peninsula, the Coast Guard announced.

In this incident, a total of 85 people were rescued, according to an official press release, while the total number of people on board was not clear.
