An-26 of the Russian Aerospace Forces evaded a collision with US drones in Syria

The An-26 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces was forced to deviate from a collision with two American drones in Syrian airspace. This was stated to journalists by the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in the SAR, Major General Oleg Yegorov.

The incident occurred on October 3 at 7.25 Moscow time in the north of the country, he specified.

“The An-26 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, performing a flight in the interests of supplying units of the Russian group, was forced to avoid a collision with American unmanned aerial vehicles MQ-9 and MQ-1, following along the route of its movement in northern Syria,” - Yegorov said.

According to him, the so-called "international anti-terrorist coalition", led by the United States, continues to carry out illegal flights of unmanned aerial vehicles in strike equipment in the skies over Syria. The major general added that the incident was not the first time that the US military violated the Memorandum of Understanding on the prevention of incidents and ensuring aviation safety during operations in the SAR dated October 20, 2015.
