Belarusian armed forces secure railway infrastructure on border

The Belarusian Armed Forces have taken rail infrastructure in the country’s border areas under their protection in order to prevent provocations, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"The Belarusian Armed Forces continue to perform their duties to increase border security. In order to prevent acts of sabotage and provocations, they have taken bridges, railway crossings and tracks under protection, establishing positions for the use of small arms and military equipment," the statement reads.

The ministry added that "the main goal of efforts to strengthen the state border is to ensure the safety of Belarusian citizens, prevent violations of the state border and cut off weapons and ammunition supply channels." "Activities aimed at strengthening the protection of the state border also involve territorial branches of the Interior Ministry and the State Border Committee," the Belarusian Defense Ministry added.

The country’s State Border Committee announced earlier that enlarged border guard groups had been deployed to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, technical security means were being actively employed and tactical groups of territorial border guard agencies were engaged in border protection efforts.
