EU’s von der Leyen proposes more cash to ease farmers’ concerns over Ukrainian grain

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has proposed an extra 100 million euros ($110 million) of support for EU farmers to ease a standoff over Ukrainian grain, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.



Brussels is scrambling to find a solution after Poland, Hungary and Slovakia banned imports of Ukrainian grain and other food products, blaming them for driving down prices.

The technical government of Bulgaria has decided to ban import of a number of products from Ukraine from April 24 to June 30. Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Yavor Gechev announced this at a briefing following the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
