The ruling Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement in northern Yemen has claimed responsibility for the missile attack on the Liberian-flagged container ship MSC United in the Red Sea, which refused to veer off course after warnings from the Houthis.
“Ansar Allah armed forces hit the MSC United ship with anti-ship missiles, which refused to deviate from its intended course after three warnings,” Houthi military spokesman Yahya said on Al-Masirah TV.
He again stressed that the movement does not disrupt shipping traffic in the Red Sea because its actions are only directed against ships related to Israel or those heading to its ports.
Sarea also said the group carried out drone attacks on the southern Israeli city of Eilat “and other areas in occupied Palestine.”
