French President Emmanuel Macron said that if Israel intends to completely destroy the Palestinian Hamas movement, the war will last ten years, and called on the Israeli authorities to more precisely formulate their goal in the conflict.
“I believe that now the Israeli authorities will have to define their goal in a more precise way... The complete destruction of Hamas - what is it, and does anyone think that it is possible? If this (is the goal - ed.), then war will last ten years... So this goal needs to be made clear,” Macron said, speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN climate conference (COP28) in Dubai.
France expects Israel to specify the goals of its military operation in the Gaza Strip apart from "the destruction of Hamas," as the country’s current moves could protract the conflict for years to come, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference after the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (referred to as COP28) in Dubai.
