Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, speaking about the unrest in the Belgrade administration, said that we are not talking about a revolution and called on citizens not to worry.
Opposition supporters in Serbia, who disagree with the results of the December 17 elections, surrounded the building of the Assembly (representative body and administration) of Belgrade on Sunday evening, climbed the steps and tried to break down the doors, the crowd lit fires.
The protesters threw eggs, tomatoes, beer cans and firecrackers at the main entrance of the Election Commission headquarters on Monday. They also refused to let commission members leave after a meeting and threw trash at them.
“Don’t worry, citizens of Serbia. And although the scenes are dramatic, we love our country and city, we are not used to someone breaking our home. No revolution is happening, they won’t succeed in any of this,” the Serbian President said in special appeal on night.
