Nebenzya accused the US of violating the UN charter due to strikes on Yemen

The United States and its allies are contributing to the spread of the Middle East conflict throughout the region; their attack on Yemen violated Article 2 of the UN Charter, Vasily Nebenzya, the Russian permanent representative to the organization, said at a UN Security Council meeting.

According to him, the escalation in Gaza has been going on for 100 days and there is no sign of it slowing down.

 “Moreover, the United States and its allies are personally contributing to the spillover of the conflict and its spread throughout the region by attacking the people of Yemen yesterday, in violation of Article 2 of the UN Charter. The Council will discuss this egregious situation in detail today at a separate briefing,” Nebenzya said.

“Apparently, our American colleagues have in mind such effective bilateral diplomacy in the region, or simply put, arbitrariness, who claim that it works better than multilateral efforts,” he emphasized.
Russia requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday in connection with the strikes by the United States and its allies on targets in Yemen.
