Russia said on Thursday its forces had foiled a Ukrainian attack on Crimea, destroying 10 Ukrainian missiles over the peninsula.
Ukraine has staged a string of damaging attacks on Crimea in the course of the 22-month-old war, including on warships, airfields, the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet and the bridge that connects the peninsula to southern Russia.
Russia’s defense ministry said the Ukrainian guided missiles were shot down by its air defenses.
There was no immediate word from Ukraine.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said that several Ukrainian airborne targets had been downed by Russian air defenses on Thursday according to preliminary reports. He also urged city residents to remain indoors to avoid getting injured by debris from the falling missiles and drones.
