La Marina turca minaccia di speronare l'italiana Saipem 12000

Se non è un atto di guerra, poco ci manca. La nave per ricerche petrolifere dell’Eni, Saipem 12000 è stata costretta a cambiare rotta, dopo essere stata questa mattina intercettata e minacciata di speronamento da cinque navi della Marina turca, mentre tentava di dirigersi verso il Blocco 3 nelle acque della Zona economica esclusiva di Cipro.

Bagdad to restart oil flow to Turkey after Arbil deal. (Need for cooperation in Cyprus)

Iraq’s government will restart the transport of oil to Turkey for the first time since March after it settled a long-lasting revenue row with the regional Kurdish government last week, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız said at an energy conference in Rome on Nov. 19.

Sweden Confirms Submarine Presence. (“a foreign power has violated Swedish territorial integrity.”)

Sweden says it can confirm a submarine violated its territorial waters near Stockholm in October.
“There is no doubt, we have excluded all other explanations. Swedish territory has been seriously and unacceptably violated by a foreign power,” said Supreme Commander Sverker Göranson in a statement.

MEPs call on Turkey to stop provocations in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone. Turkish maritime surveys “must be seen as both illegal and provocative”

MEPs condemned Turkey’s “maritime survey” activities as encroaching upon the Republic of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone and its sovereign right to explore the natural resources within it, in a resolution voted on Thursday. The text also calls on Turkey to stop its “provocative actions” and “threats” against the Republic of Cyprus.

E. VENIZELOS: The National Council on Foreign Policy met here, at the Foreign Ministry, in a very serious climate of consensus. I would like to hope that this is a positive sign regarding the stance of all of the political forces at tomorrow’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Defense and Foreign Affairs, as well, and more generally as we go through a period full of challenges for our Nation and for our wider region.

Turkish Navy authorized over oil crisis with Cyprus (Cypriot EEZ)

The Turkish Navy has been authorized by the government for the full implementation of recently amended rules of engagement in the eastern Mediterranean in the face of growing tension between littoral countries, including Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt and Israel over oil and natural gas drilling projects.

“The Prime Ministry handed over the rules of engagement to the Chief of General Staff and the Chief of Staff handed them over to the Naval Forces Command.

Cyprus accuses Turkey of 'provocative actions' in Mediterranean (Summit in Cairo - joint news conference)

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Saturday accused Turkey of "provocative actions" that he said are hindering the island's peace talks and compromising security in the eastern Mediterranean.

Last month Cyprus suspended its participation in UN-led peace talks with Turkey amid tensions over Ankara's determination to search for oil and gas in the same region where the Cypriot government has licensed exploratory drills in an exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
