Εφημερίδες εναντίον Google

Βάση νέου νόμου στη Γερμανία οι εφημερίδες μπορούν να ζητήσουν χρήματα από τις μηχανές αναζήτησης, που δημοσιεύουν άρθρα τους. Στην πράξη όμως ο νόμος δεν εφαρμόζεται, ενώ την ίδια στιγμή η Google περνά στην αντεπίθεση.
Ένα ακόμα νόμο έχουν στο πλευρό τους οι εκδότες εφημερίδων στην αντιπαράθεσή τους με τις μηχανές αναζήτησης. Από την 1η Αυγούστου ισχύει στη Γερμανία νόμος βάση του οποίου οι εκδότες μπορούν να διεκδικήσουν από μηχανές αναζήτησης χρήματα για τη διαδικτυακή δημοσιοποίηση άρθρων.

Simply put, Google’s Ray Kurzweil says immortality is only a few years away. Digital immortality, at least.
Kurzweil, 64, was only brought on to Google late last year, but that hasn’t stopped him from making headlines already. During a conference in New York City last week, the company’s director of engineering said that the growth of biotechnology is so quickly paced that that he predicts our lives will be drastically different in just a few decades.
According to Kurzweil, humans will soon be able to upload their entire brains onto computers. After then, other advancements won’t be too far behind.

Internet giant Google recognizes Palestine through tagline

Internet giant Google took a symbolic step this week, changing the tagline on the homepage of its Palestinian edition from "Palestinian territories" to "Palestine."

The move marks another victory for the Palestinian Authority, after it won a historic upgrade at the United Nations General Assembly in November, gaining the status of non-member observe state.

"We're changing the name 'Palestinian Territories' to 'Palestine' across our products," Google spokesman Nathan Tyler told the BBC on Friday.

    Σύμφωνα με την έκθεση Διαφάνειας της Google, οι περιπτώσεις κυβερνητικής παρακολούθησης πολιτών που "σερφάρουν" στο διαδίκτυο αυξάνονται με ιδιαίτερα γοργούς ρυθμούς.
