Russia, CIS states are attraction for Greek tour operators

Russian tourists like to spend their holidays in Greece. Nearly 1.5 million Russian tourists visited Greece last year, which added 1.3 billion euros to the Greek budget.

Greek Foreign Minister: EU Presidency Is Opportunity...

Greece’s foreign minister believes the country’s EU presidency is an opportunity to present itself as a full-fledged member of the block, despite the crisis it is faced with.

“We are seeking a new narrative for Europe. We therefore have to bring back into the discussion a Europe of culture, of civilization, of history, of the rule of law, and of the welfare state”, said Evangelos Venizelos in an interview for Euronews.

On January 1, Greece assumed the rotational presidency of the EU, taking over from Lithuania.

Amid a continuing financial crisis at home, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras began his four-day visit to China on Thursday.

The Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras, has attended the premiere of the CCTV documentary "Glamorous Greece" during his visit in China.

Samaras said both China and Greece had proud ancient civilizations and hoped the documentary would enhance understanding and communication between their peoples. Greek Tourism Minister, Olga Kefalogianni, has expressed Greece’s hope that more Chinese tourists and investment will be attracted to Greece.
