Once Again, the French Legislature Bans Denial of the Armenian Genocide

Both Houses of the French Legislature have once again adopted a law that penalizes the denial of genocides recognized by French or international courts, or the denial, minimization or extreme trivialization of other genocides or Crimes Against Humanity, if accompanied by incitement to violence or hatred.

Turkish Foreign Ministry calls French genocide denial bill a risk to freedom of expression

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has cautioned that a French bill criminalizing the denial of “genocide,” unanimously passed by the lower house of the French parliament on July 1, had the potential to unlawfully limit freedom of expression, while a former diplomat has claimed the bill was related to the “personal interests” of French politicians.

Déportations d'Arméniens en Turquie ottomane: "un acte inhumain". -Ahmet Davutoglu

Les déportations d'Arméniens en 1915 étaient un acte inhumain, a déclaré vendredi le chef de la diplomatie turque Ahmet Davutoglu devant les journalistes qui l'accompagnaient pendant sa visite à Erevan, rapporte le journal turc Hurriyet Daily news.

"Je considère que la vague de déportations déclenchée par les Jeunes Turcs dans l'Empire ottoman était absolument une erreur. Ce qu'ils ont fait était une erreur et un acte inhumain", a indiqué le ministre, exhortant les deux parties à établir une "juste mémoire" de ces faits que son pays refusait toujours de reconnaître comme génocide.

"Ο πάπας θέλει να πάει στην Αρμενία", τιτλοφορεί σημερινό της άρθρο η εφημερίδα της Ρώμης "Ιλ Μεσατζέρο".
Όπως αναφέρει η "Ιλ Μεσατζέρο", η κυβέρνηση της Αρμενίας κάλεσε επίσημα τον Αργεντινό ποντίφικα να επισκεφθεί, το 2015, το Γιερεβάν, στα πλαίσια των τελετών μνήμης για τα εκατό χρόνια από την Γενοκτονία των αρμενίων.
Ο πνευματικός πατέρας των ρωμαιοκαθολικών απάντησε στον Αρμένιο πρέσβη στο Βατικανό, ότι "θα κάνει ότι του είναι δυνατόν" για να πραγματοποιήσει το ταξίδι αυτό.
Όπως αναφέρει ο ιταλικός τύπος, "όταν ήταν αρχιεπίσκοπος του Μπουένος 'Αιρες, ο πάπας Βεργκόλιο είχε τονίσει, με ξεκάθαρο τρόπο, ότι "αυτή των Aρμενίων ήταν η πρώτη γενοκτονία του περασμένου αιώνα".

Ankara upset at Vatican for pope’s remarks on mass killings of Armenians

Turkey has reacted angrily to the Vatican following a statement from Pope Francis describing the mass killings of Armenians during World War I as “the first genocide of the twentieth century” during a meeting with a delegation led by Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics on June 3.

“The Turkish Foreign Ministry delivered Turkey’s views on the issue and expressed disappointment to the embassy in Ankara and Vatican in Rome yesterday,” a Turkish diplomat told the Hürriyet Daily News on June 7.
