Έντονη ανησυχία των ΗΠΑ για την ασφάλεια των χειμερινών Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων στο Σότσι

Η αμερικανική κυβέρνηση εξέφρασε την ανησυχία της για το ενδεχόμενο ισλαμιστές αντάρτες να προετοιμάζουν επιθέσεις με στόχο να διαταράξουν την ομαλή διεξαγωγή των Χειμερινών Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων του Σότσι τον Φεβρουάριο και προσέφερε στενότερη συνεργασία με τη Ρωσία σε θέματα ασφαλείας.
Μια ισλαμική Οργάνωση εξαπέλυσε ρητές απειλές για την πραγματοποίηση επιθέσεων κατά τη διάρκεια των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων, δήλωσε αξιωματούχος του Στέιτ Ντιπάρτμεντ.

Δύο επιθέσεις στο Βόλγκογκραντ σε δύο ημέρες, η μία στον κεντρικό σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό της πόλης και άλλη μία σε τρόλεϊ, προκάλεσαν τον θάνατο δεκάδων ανθρώπων κι αναζωπύρωσαν τους φόβους για την ασφάλεια των Χειμερινών Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων.

Security Council ‘outraged’ as second terrorist attack in 24 hours strikes Russian city

30 December 2013 – Members of the United Nations Security Council said they are “outraged” by today’s terrorist attack targeting a bus in Volgograd, Russia, that caused numerous deaths and injuries – the second suicide bombing in the city within a 24-hour period.

The 15 members of the Council, in a statement issued to the press, condemned the bus attack “in the strongest terms” and extended their condolences to the families of the victims.

Media reports say at least 14 people were killed in today’s bombing, which comes on the heels of yesterday’s attack at the central train station in Volgograd that reportedly killed 16 people and wounded 40 others.

Η αντιτρομοκρατική επιχείρηση, στην οποία συμμετέχουν περισσότεροι από 4.000 άντρες του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών, διεξάγεται στο Βολγκογκράντ μετά τις εκρήξεις.

«Από το πρωί σήμερα διεξάγεται η επιχείρηση «Ανεμοστρόβιλος – Αντιτρομοκρατία», στην οποία συμμετέχουν περισσότεροι από 4.000 άντρες της αστυνομίας και του στρατού», δήλωσε ο εκπρόσωπος της Αντιτρομοκρατικής επιτροπής. Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο, στην πόλη δρουν 268 ομάδες αναζήτησης και 142 σημεία ελέγχου.

Sécurité des JO 2014: le CIO confiant malgré les attentats de Volgograd

Le président du Comité international olympique (CIO) Thomas Bach s'est dit persuadé que la Russie garantirait la sécurité des Jeux olympiques d'hiver 2014 malgré les récents attentats de Volgograd, rapportent les médias internationaux.

M.Bach a condamné les attaques terroristes de Volgograd, les qualifiant d'ignobles, avant d'exprimer sa confiance au gouvernement russe capable de tout faire "pour que les Jeux olympiques de Sotchi se déroulent bien pour les athlètes et les participants", selon un communiqué du CIO.

Security Council strongly condemns terrorist attack at Russian train station

29 December 2013 – The Security Council strongly condemned the terrorist attack that occurred at the central train station of the Russian city of Volgograd today causing numerous deaths and injuries. 

Media reports say 16 people were killed and some 40 injured in the suicide attack, which occurred around 12:45 p.m. local time at the train station.
In a statement issued to the press, the 15 members of the Council extended their condolences to the families of the victims and expressed their sympathy to all those injured in this “heinous” act, and to the Russian people and Government.

Ο Αντιπρόεδρος της Κυβέρνησης και ΥΠΕΞ Ευάγγελος Βενιζέλος έκανε την ακόλουθη δήλωση σχετικά με την πολύνεκρη τρομοκρατική επίθεση που σημειώθηκε, σήμερα, στη ρωσική πόλη  Βόλγκογκραντ:

«Εκφράζουμε τον αποτροπιασμό και την απερίφραστη καταδίκη μας για την σημερινή βάρβαρη τρομοκρατική  ενέργεια   που  προκάλεσε τον τραυματισμό και θάνατο αθώων Ρώσων πολιτών στο σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό της πόλης Βόλγκογκραντ.

At least 18 people were killed and 40 others wounded when an explosion tore through a train station in the southern Russian city of Volgograd on Sunday, in an attack blamed on a female suicide bomber, Russian media and officials said.

Regional interior ministry spokeswoman Svetlana Smolyaninova told the ITAR-TASS news agency that the blast occurred inside the train station at around 12:45 pm (0845 GMT).
