Moscow Court Arrests in Absentia Ukrainian Interior Minister Avakov

A Moscow district court arrested in absentia Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the courtroom. 

Last week, a Russian court arrested in absentia Dnipropetrovsk Region Governor Ihor Kolomoyskyi as part of Russia’s ongoing investigation into deadly violence in southeastern Ukraine.
International arrest warrants have been issued for both Avakov and Kolomoyskyi.

Russia issues international arrest warrant for two Ukraine officials

Russian Investigative Committee announced Saturday it had issued an international arrest warrant for two Ukrainian officials who were accused of having used heavy weapons in military operations in eastern Ukraine, causing deaths and injuries of many civilians and plenty of refugees.

The two Ukrainian officials were identified as Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Dnepropetrovsk Region Governor Igor Kolomoisky. 


In addition to the alleged use of forbidden weapons, the two were also charged with accelerating cases of murders and kidnappings, as well as the deteriorating security situation of journalists working in Ukraine.

Moshe Yaalon: Turkey arrest move "political", may delay deal

Israeli officials denounced as "political" Wednesday attempts by a Turkish court to secure an international arrest warrant for four former Israeli military commanders over a deadly 2010 maritime assault.
But the court ruling, issued on Monday, was unlikely to have a "signficant effect" on attempts to restore full diplomatic relations between Israel and Turkey, which were badly damaged by the raid, officials said.

"Of course we're not happy about it. It seems more political than legal," said Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon during a tour of the Jordan Valley on Tuesday, in remarks relayed by his office.

Turkey court issues arrest warrants to Israeli ex-generals over Gaza flotilla raid

Istanbul's Seventh High Criminal Court released arrest warrants Monday to four senior Israeli officers over their role in the 2010 raid of a Turkish-flagged Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

The court also asked Interpol to release international arrest warrants against the four, who include former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, former Navy Chief Eliezer Marom, former Military Intelligence Chief Amos Yadlin and former Naval Intelligence chief Avishai Levy.
