Russia not in hurry to open market for Turkey

Russia is not in a hurry to open its market for Turkey as it needs to support local agricultural producers in the first place, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said Wednesday.

"Regarding food we are not in a hurry to open our market. The reasons are clear as we first of all have to support our own producers," he said.

"Yesterday Prime Minister (Dmitry Medvedev - TASS) made it clear that the issue is not on today’s agenda at all," Tkachev said, adding though that he personally supports the decision to get the tourist flow from Russia to Turkey back on track. "Yes, regarding (Turkish) resorts we’ve opened this niche as it is a very familiar country, easily understandable for our tourists," he said...
