Trump claims between 3-5 million illegal immigrants voted for Clinton

The president of the United States, who lost the popular vote by almost 2.9 million votes, told lawmakers that between three and five million undocumented immigrants had illegally voted for his rival without offering any evidence to back up his unsubstantiated claim, media reported on Tuesday.

Donald Trump said at a White House reception with top congressional leaders that millions of unauthorized immigrants had voted for Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton, who _ despite losing the electoral college _ won the Nov. 8 vote tally with 65,845,063 ballots, according to the official US Election Atlas.

Trump, on the other hand, obtained 62,980,160 votes, although he ascended to the Oval Office by earning 304 out of 538 total electoral votes.

Both the New York Times newspaper and CNN broadcasting network, citing sources present at the meeting, reported on Tuesday that Trump seemed "worried" that people considered his victory illegitimate.
