Senate approves sanctions on Russia, sends bill to Trump for signing

The US Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a packet of sanctions against Russia despite the objections of President Donald Trump, who now must decide whether to sign the bill or veto it.


The sanctions, approved 98-2 by upper house lawmakers, also includes sanctions on North Korea and Iran to punish them for their ongoing weapons programs.
