China to conduct regular air patrols in ADIZ (video)

The Chinese air force says it will conduct regular air patrols in the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.

Air force spokesman Shen Jinke says combat aircraft will carry out patrols to strengthen monitoring of the defense zone.

He says the patrols are a defensive measure and are in line with common international practice.

Shen says the Chinese air force is maintaining a status of high alert, and will take measures to deal with air threats to protect the security of China's airspace.

  • China sends planes into air defense zone after Japan, S Korea, U.S. defy rules

BEIJING —
China said it sent warplanes into its newly declared maritime air defense zone Thursday, days after the U.S., South Korea and Japan all sent flights through the airspace in defiance of rules Beijing says it has imposed in the East China Sea.

China’s air force sent several fighter jets and an early warning aircraft on normal air patrols in the zone, the Xinhua agency reported, citing air force spokesman Shen Jinke.

The report did not specify exactly when the flights were sent or whether they had encountered foreign aircraft. The United States, Japan and South Korea have said they have sent flights through the zone without encountering any Chinese response since Beijing announced the creation of the zone last week.

Shen described Thursday’s flights as “a defensive measure and in line with international common practices.” He said China’s air force would remain on high alert and will take measures to protect the country’s airspace.......japantoday.com

  1. China sends fighter jets for patrolling airspace over disputed islands in East China Sea ....

China on Thursday dispatched its fighter jets for patrolling air defence identification zone (ADIZ) in East China Sea including disputed islands with Japan, the Chinese Air Force spokesman Col.

Shen Jinke told reporters. He said several fighter jets accompanied by early warning aircraft were sent for routine patrolling. He said that patrolling was a ‘defensive measure’ in full accordance with the international practice. Last Saturday, China had announced the creation of ADIZ, which includes disputed Senkaku (Chinese name Diaoyu) islands controlled by Japan. Yesterday Japan and South Korea also sent their military aircraft in this area to demonstrate their rejection of the Chinese decision. Earlier the US had done the same. Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan Yoshihide Suga declared that the Japanese reconnaissance aircraft are patrolling in East China Sea as usual. “We are not going to change this because of Chinese considerations,” he declared. The South Korean Defence Ministry also said that it carried out air patrolling of the rock in East China Sea with South Korean station, also disputed by China.

  3. Taiwan joins protest chorus over China air zone....

TAIPEI: The Taiwanese government said Friday it was making representations to China after Beijing declared a controversial air zone in the East China Sea that has angered allies including the US and Japan.

Taiwan's Ma Ying-jeou administration, which has been pushing for detente with Beijing since 2008, launched the belated protest following mounting pressure from the opposition.

"Mainland China had not consulted in advance with Taiwan over the air defence identification zone in the East China Sea, resulting in the overlapping with our flight information region," the Cabinet said in a statement.

The declared air zone includes disputed islands claimed by China, Japan, and Taiwan.

"We think the move will not help facilitate positive development of ties across the Taiwan Straits. Therefore, we'll convey our solemn protest through (proper) channels," it said.................http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/taiwan-joins-protest/904568.html
