EU ready to provide €20 bln in financial aid to Ukraine after the formation of new government....
KIEV, Ukraine The EU is ready to provide a €20 billion financial aid package to Ukraine after the new cabinet was formed in the country, said European Parliament Foreign Relations Commission Chairman Elmar Brok on Monday.
The EU said on Sunday that it had been ready to offer "substantial" financial aid to the new government recover from months of political crisis.
Brok told journalists in Kiev that the EU is ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, and for the association agreement which was rejected by recently impeached President Viktor Yanukovych in November.
- Brok also stated that he came into contact with Germany's Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier and agreed on supporting the new cabinet in Ukraine.

ReplyDeleteMOSCOW, February 24 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine hopes that the price it pays for Russian natural gas will remain unchanged despite the ouster of pro-Russia President Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine’s acting energy minister told Reuters on Monday.
Russia’s state gas giant Gazprom agreed with Ukraine’s Naftogaz in December to slash the price that Ukraine had paid since 2009 by about a third, from about $400 per 1,000 cubic meters to $268.50.
“We hope the price will be stable,” the news agency quoted acting Energy Minister Eduard Stavytsky as saying.
More than half of the 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas consumed by Ukraine each year comes from Russia, according to Reuters.
Stavytsky said in January that Ukraine would discontinue relatively small purchases of natural gas from Europe and instead only buy from Russia.
Ukraine is on the brink of economic collapse following Yanukovych’s ouster on Saturday and the prospect that Russia will renege on billions of dollars in promised loans to the cash-strapped country.

Ανησυχεί η ρωσική διπλωματία για τις εξελίξεις στο Κίεβο / Заявление МИД России по событиям на Украине ....
ReplyDeleteΤην ιδιαίτερη ανησυχία του για τις εξελίξεις στην Ουκρανία εξέφρασε το ρωσικό Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών, υπογραμμίζοντας την έκπληξη της Μόσχας διότι σειρά Ευρωπαίων πολιτικών έσπευσαν να υποστηρίξουν την προκήρυξη προεδρικών εκλογών το Μάιο, αν και διαφορετικά ήταν τα συμφωνηθέντα της 21ης Φεβρουαρίου - τα οποία δεν τηρούνται, όπως τονίζει η ρωσική διπλωματία. Καταγγέλλει ότι η νέα ηγεσία στο Κίεβο επιχειρεί με δικτατορικό τρόπο να καταπνίξει τις διαφωνίες στα ανατολικά της χώρας.
"Η συμφωνία της 21ης Φεβρουαρίου για τη διευθέτηση της κρίσης στην Ουκρανία δεν τηρείται, παρά το ότι πιστοποίησαν την υπογραφή της οι υπουργοί Εξωτερικών της Γερμανίας, της Πολωνίας και της Γαλλίας, ενώ οι ΗΠΑ, η ΕΕ, άλλες διεθνείς δομές χαιρέτισαν το έγγραφο αυτό", αναφέρει το ρωσικό ΥΠΕΞ, περιγράφοντας τις συγκρούσεις "πολεμοχαρών νέων, ενόπλων ακροδεξιών εθνικιστικών οργανώσεων με τμήματα σωμάτων ασφαλείας, τα οποία υπερασπίζονταν την ασφάλεια του αμάχου πληθυσμού και τα συμφέροντα του κράτους".
"Οι ένοπλοι δεν έχουν αφοπλιστεί, αρνούνται να εγκαταλείψουν τις οδούς των πόλεων, τις οποίες ουσιαστικά ελέγχουν και να ελευθερώσουν διοικητικά κτίρια, συνεχίζουν τις πράξεις βίας", επισημαίνει σε ειδική ανακοίνωσή του το ρωσικό ΥΠΕΞ, προσθέτοντας με έκπληξη την υιοθέτηση από Ευρωπαίους πολιτικούς της διεξαγωγής προεδρικών εκλογών το Μάιο, αν και η συμφωνία της 21ης Φεβρουαρίου προβλέπει ότι οι εκλογές έπρεπε να διεξαχθούν μόνο μετά την ολοκλήρωση της συνταγματικής αναθεώρησης.....................http://www.ellanodikhs.net/2014/02/blog-post_24.html
