Moscow to present video proving extremists responsbile for Ukraine unrest / Russia against including Ukraine’s $3bln Eurobond debt into restructuring schemes

Moscow is soon going to provide video evidence to the EU and OSCE proving that extremists provoked unrest in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry has stated on its Facebook account.

"The Western media prefer not to talk about the riots for what they really were, demonstrations arranged by extremist groups. Perhaps the leaders of the European institutions do not know about the actions of these extremists who were disguised as civilians," the statement reads.

"We are most deeply concerned about what is happening in Ukraine.

We are startled to hear that some Western countries misinterpret the events, trying to influence the situation," the Ministry said.

  • Russia against including Ukraine’s $3bln Eurobond debt into restructuring schemes
  • Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said Russia will not declare a default on Ukraine’s debts.

MOSCOW, February 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia objects against including Ukraine’s $3 billion Eurobond debt into any multilateral debt restructuring scheme in case of the issuer default, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak told journalists on Tuesday.
“In any case, we will be against including Ukraine’s bond debts [in case of the issuer default] into any multilateral restructuring schemes. It would be unfair,” he said.
If it comes to such decisions, the sides will agree on it at a bilateral level, he noted. “I think our bond claims will be outside the overall package. We shall see to it that these funds are not included into the overall loan body,” he said.
Russia will not declare a default on Ukraine’s debts, Storchak added.
“We shall see who is going to declare this default,” he said. “Naturally, we are not going to do that, it is very important for the debtor. We hope that in its credit relations with the Russian Federation, the borrower will always bear in mind that it must do its best to maintain a high level of its credit history."

LVOV, February 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Residents of Lviv, a city in western Ukraine where there is a greater affinity with Europe, will speak Russian on Wednesday in solidarity with the country’s mostly Russian-speaking east and south.

The move was initiated by activists who don’t want “that dishonest people in the Ukrainian parliament use their status to split Ukraine”.

A headband on the city website writes “I will be speaking Russian at home, at work, on transport and with friends – everywhere, on February 26, in solidarity with residents of eastern and southern regions”...........................http://en.itar-tass.com/world/720996

  5. Riot Police in Lviv Beg People's Forgiveness on Bended Knee .....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b2GlLtgA1k

About 100 riot police officers in Lviv in western Ukraine got down on their knees on stage on Monday and asked the city's residents to forgive them for their role in the attempts to suppress recent anti-government protests.

The riot police, or Berkut, promised to take the side of the people in future and assured the crowd that they weren't involved in the violence in Kiev.

Many of the protesters were not satisfied, however, shouting "shame!" and throwing small objects at them, UNIAN reported Tuesday.

A priest who was also on stage appealed for calm and activists helped to hold the crowd back.

There is no shortage of ill-feeling between the riot police and members of the street protest movement in Ukraine.....................http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/riot-police-in-lviv-beg-peoples-forgiveness-on-bended-knee/495203.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:%20themoscowtimes/RUXi%20%28The%20Moscow%20Times%29

    ----
