Protesters continued to occupy the headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service in the eastern city of Luhansk.
The security agency had earlier said that the separatists inside the building, armed with explosives and other weapons, allowed 56 hostages to leave the building during the night. A spokeswoman said there were no other hostages. But Tetyana Pohukay, a regional police spokeswoman, disputed that statement, saying there had never been any hostages inside, according to the Interfax news agency.
The Luhansk security services building was among several government offices seized by pro-Moscow groups on April 6 in an escalation of protests against the interim government in power since the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said the standoff in Luhansk and the two neighboring Russian-leaning regions of Donetsk and Kharkiv must be resolved within the next two days. “I want to repeat that there are two options: political settlement through negotiations and the use of force,” Avakov told reporters. “We are ready for both options.”
A spokesman for the protesters holding the building in Luhansk said that 50 people had left overnight and that talks on resolving the crisis were continuing. Others remained there.
Activists, many in balaclavas and masks, continued to build up barricades using tyres, wooden crates and sandbags, and prepared petrol bombs. Several were holding automatic rifles.
"Those who left were not ready to stay and fight," said the spokesman, who gave his name as Vasily and said his "soldiers" would fight on until a referendum on independence from Kiev was held.
"We of course must ask Russia to let us join it," he said, adding that he hoped for assistance from President Vladimir Putin."
The Ukrainian government says the occupations are part of a Russian-led plan to dismember the country, a charge Moscow denies.
- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry accused Russian agents and special forces on Tuesday of stirring separatist unrest and said Moscow could be trying to prepare for military action as it had in Crimea.
Russia denied the accusations on April 9 and dismissed concerns over a troop buildup near the border with Ukraine in what has become the worst East-West crisis since the end of the Cold War in 1991.
"The United States and Ukraine have no reason to be worried," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
- "Russia has stated many times that it is not carrying out any unusual or unplanned activity on its territory near the border with Ukraine that would be of military significance."

Ucrania: Vehículos blindados entran en Lugansk...
ReplyDeleteAdemás, según informa Itar-Tass, una numerosa brigada del grupo ultrarradical Sector Derecho ha llegado a una base militar de Lugansk. Citando a una fuente en el Servicio de Seguridad de Ucrania, la agencia informa de que en la ciudad próximamente se llevará a cabo una operación policial contra los manifestantes.
Este miércoles el ministro del Interior de Ucrania, Arsén Avákov, declaró que la situación en el este del país se resolverá en las próximas 48 horas "por medio de negociaciones o mediante la fuerza".
Los manifestantes que se encuentran dentro del edificio, según informa Itar-Tass, están elaborando un documento oficial con sus demandas. Según los activistas dentro de la sede regional del Servicio de Seguridad hay un millar de personas.
Ayer en las redes sociales aparecieron vídeos en los que, según sus autores, se observa equipo militar dirigiéndose a Lugansk. Kiev threatens force against eastern Ukraine protesters...
ReplyDeleteUkraine’s acting Interior Minister is threatening to resolve “in 48 hours” the situation in eastern regions where administrations of at least two cities are controlled by protesters demanding a nationwide referendum on the state structure.
Arsen Avakov told journalists on Wednesday that the coup-imposed government is ready to use force in the mutinous eastern regions.
"There are two solutions: a political one through negotiations or through force,” the minister said on the margins of a government meeting.
“For those who want dialogue, we propose talks and a political solution. ReplyDeleteDas kündigte Sergej Zyplakow, Mitglied der selbsternannten Volksregierung der „Donezker Volksrepublik“, am Mittwoch an.
„Die Regierung wird derzeit schrittweise gebildet. Sie wird eigene Dekrete erlassen und die Kontrolle über andere Städte des Gebiets herstellen. Wir werden uns mit staatlichen Routine-Aktivitäten befassen“, sagte Zyplakow, der auch stellvertretender Leiter der Volkswehr der Donbass-Region ist. „Die Sicherheitskräfte der Republik steigern ihre Ressourcen. Gebildet werden immer neue Trupps. Die örtliche Polizei steht unserer Arbeit nicht im Wege… Ich denke, dass sie uns recht geben. Demnächst werden wir sie aufrufen, auf unsere Seite überzugehen und unsere Legitimität anzuerkennen.“
Zyplakow teilte ferner mit, dass im Flughafen von Donezk rund 100 Angehörige der Nationalgarde einquartiert sind. „In der Stadt selbst befinden sich noch etwa 100 Mitglieder des Rechten Sektors und ebenfalls rund 100 Söldner einer privaten US-amerikanischen Militär- und Sicherheitsfirma, die einen Vertrag mit der Kiewer Junta geschlossen hat.“ Es handele sich um rund 300 Profis oder besessene Fanatiker. Das sei eine ernsthafte Kraft. „Aber wir sind zum Kampf bereit“, versicherte Zyplakow.

Ukraine: des inconnus armés prennent un commissariat dans l'Est...

Des inconnus armés ont pris le contrôle d'un commissariat dans la ville de Slaviansk, dans l'Est russophone de l'Ukraine, a annoncé samedi matin le ministre de l'Intérieur Arsen Avakov sur sa page Facebook.
"Des hommes armés en tenue camouflage ont pris le commissariat de Slaviansk. La réaction sera très forte", a écrit M. Avakov, sans plus de précisions sur le nombre d'assaillants. "C'est la différence entre des protestataires et des terroristes", poursuit-il.
Un porte-parole de la police locale de Slaviansk a indiqué que ces hommes en uniforme n'avaient formulé aucune demande ni donné aucun détail sur leur identité.
Slaviansk est une ville de quelque 100.000 habitants située dans la province de Donetsk, frontalière de la Russie.

In der Ostukraine haben Bewaffnete ein weiteres Behördengebäude besetzt. Mehrere Männer in Tarnuniformen hätten eine Polizeidirektion in Slawiansk in der Region Donezk in ihre Gewalt gebracht, teilte Innenminister Arsen Awakow am Samstag mit. Er kündigte eine harte Reaktion des Staates an.
