Andrii Deshchytsia dismissed as Ukraine’s acting foreign minister

Andrii Deshchytsia, infamous for using foul language in respect of the Russian leaders, has been sent to resignation as Ukraine’s acting foreign minister by a parliamentary vote. The resignation requested by President Petro Poroshenko won support of 319 lawmakers on Thursday, while the votes of 226 were needed to pass a relevant resolution.
The Ukrainian parliament has approved the appointment of Pavlo Klimkin as the new minister of foreign affairs. The resolution also proposed by Petro Poroshenko has gained support of 335 lawmakers with the necessary minimum of 226.

  • Pavlo Klimkin was born in 1967 in Kursk (Russia). In 1991, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (the faculty of Aerophysics and Space Research) specializing in physics and applied mathematics.
Klimkin has been working for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1993. In 2008, he became director of the department for European Union, and in 2010 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. 

As a deputy minister, Klimkin was holding negotiations on the Association Agreement with the EU. In 2012, he was appointed ambassador of Ukraine to Germany. On the previous week, Petro Poroshenko has dismissed him from this post.
