Decision on US military assistance to Kiev would add fuel to fire (Sergei Lavrov)

MOSCOW, July 28. /ITAR-TASS/. The decision on US military assistance to Kiev would add fuel to the fire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a briefing on Monday.

“Our Western colleagues do not notice all what is happening in Ukraine,” the minister said. “The EU and United States urge Ukraine’s authorities to further maintain proportionality in the so-called ‘anti-terrorist operation.’”

“I carry with me all the time this quote from a statement by (Ukrainian President Petro) Poroshenko. “It’s a direct quote: 

“Being industrious and peaceful people - the majority of residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, have felt our sympathy, love and respect. The Ukrainian armed forces, the National Guard and other units will never take the liberty of using force against civilians. They will never strike at residential quarters, Ukrainian soldiers and guardsmen will risk their own lives in order not to expose women and children, aged men to danger. Such is the eternal knightly spirit of the Ukrainian army.” End quote.”
