Ukraine/Poroshenko accuses Russian troops of fighting with rebels (Contact had been lost with an An-26)

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said Russian military staff officers are fighting against Ukrainian forces alongside separatist rebels and a new Russian missile system is being used on the separatist side.
"In the past three days a new Russian missile system has been used against the armed forces of Ukraine," he told security chiefs.

"Information has also been confirmed that Russian staff officers are taking part in military operations against Ukrainian forces," he said, according to his website.

Russia is building up forces on its border with Ukraine, and separatists, backed by Russian "mercenaries", are firing on Ukrainian border guards in an attempt to bring armoured vehicles into the country, a Ukrainian military spokesman has said.

Accusing Russia of embarking on a course of escalation in Ukraine's eastern regions, spokesman Andriy Lysenko made the statement.

"In the past 24 hours, deployment of (Russian) units and military equipment across the border from the Sumy and Luhansk border points was noticed. The Russian Federation continues to build up troops on the border".
Ukrainian security officials also said contact had been lost with an An-26 military transport plane near Luhansk..........http://www.rte.ie/news/2014/0714/630566-ukraine/

    1. Russia Invites Diplomats to Visit Site of Alleged Shell Attack...

Russian has invited diplomats from 18 countries to visit a border town where it says a Ukrainian shell has killed one person.

Russia's Defense Ministry says the visit by foreign military specialists and journalists will take place Tuesday in the Rostov region. The deputy defense minister has called the planned visit "an act of goodwill."

On Monday, pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine claimed responsibility for shooting down a Ukrainian military transport plane. They said four crew members have been taken prisoner.

Russia's Interfax news agency quoted separatists in the rebel-held city of Luhansk as saying the captives are in the border city of Krasnodon and undergoing interrogation.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry said the plane was flying too high above Luhansk to have been hit by conventional surface-to-air missiles, prompting speculation that rebels either used more powerful Russian missiles, or that the plane was hit by Russian missiles from Russian territory...............http://www.voanews.com/content/russia-invites-diplomats-visit-site-alleged-shell-attack/1957631.html

KIEV, July 15 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine has halted military aviation flights in the east of the country until further notice after an An-26 military transport plane crashed in Luhansk Region Monday, the special operations' press service said Tuesday.

“In line with the investigation into the situation of a Ukrainian Air Force An-26 military transport aircraft crashing in the Luhansk region on July 14, flights by the anti-terrorist operation aviation have been suspended until further notice.
