At least 40 Palestinians were killed and 200 others injured in
Israeli shelling in southern Gaza Strip after the collapse of the
three-day ceasefire which briefly began on Friday morning, medics
reported.
Earlier, the Israeli government has informed U.N. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon that the humanitarian ceasefire was over, Al Arabiya correspondent reported. Israel’s announcement comes after one of its army tank’s fire killed eight people in southern Gaza medics said, just hours after a 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire took effect.
A doctor at a nearby Abu Yusef al-Najjar hospital gave no immediate details of the identities of those killed, but said they had died in a bombardment east of the southern city of Rafah, after an AFP correspondent saw heavy shelling of the area.

ReplyDeleteDie Waffenruhe zwischen Israel und Hamas ist kurz nach Beginn gescheitert. Israel kündigte an, die Militäroperationen würden fortgesetzt. Die Armee befürchtet, ein Soldat könnte entführt worden sein.
Israels Militär hat die dreitägige Waffenruhe mit den militanten Palästinensern im Gazastreifen für gescheitert erklärt. Die Zeitung "Haaretz" berichtete, ein israelischer Repräsentant habe den UN-Gesandten Robert Serry darüber informiert, dass Israel die Waffenruhe für gescheitert erklärt habe. Auch der Fernsehsender BBC meldete, die Armee werde ihre Militäroperationen nun fortsetzen. Ein Sprecher der israelischen Regierung teilte im britischen Fernsehsender I-TV mit: "Wir antworten nur auf Hamas-Angriffe. Die Hamas hat die Waffenruhe schändlich missbraucht."
Zuvor hatten sich beide Seiten bereits gegenseitig beschuldigt, die Waffenruhe gebrochen zu haben.
