The US Ambassador said, “China has restricted the freedom of movement of released prisoners of conscience Gao Zhisheng and Dhondup Wangchen. The government has tightened control on expression of religious freedom and its continuous repressive policies on Tibet and Uighur areas…..”
“UK remains concern by reports of violence in ethnic minority areas of China and excessive use of force by the security authorities. We urge china to engaged meaningful dialogue with minority communities in Tibet and Xinjiang, ” said the UK delegate in its statement .
Earlier, the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) and International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) addressed the UN Human Rights Council session.
The Dharamsala based TCHRD’s Director Ms. Tsering Tsomo, speaking on behalf of the Society for Threatened Peoples drew attention to the recent shooting of Tibetans by the Chinese Security forces in Kardze (Ch: Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Sichuan Province).
The Society for Threatened Peoples called for the intervention of the Human Rights Council and urged the PRC to schedule visits of the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion and belief and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to the PRC including Tibetan areas.
In a joint statement with Helsinki Foundation, ICT asked the UN Human Rights Council to look into 41 cases of enforced disappearances in Tibet that ICT documented between April 2010 to February 2014.
ICT called on the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to call to States to take specific measures to prevent threats, intimidation and reprisals against victims of enforced disappearances including family members, witnesses and human rights defenders.”
The Chinese delegate in his response said EU, UK, the Czech Republic and US had total disregard for China’s human rights achievements.

Chinese court sentences Tibetan monk to 12 years in prison ...
ReplyDeleteTsangyang Gyatso, a Tibetan chantmaster of Drilda monastery in Tibet’s Sog county was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Chinese court, according to media reports. Tsangyang Gyatso was falsely charged for separatist motives and plot to protest against the government.
Tsangyang Gyatso was arrested on 17 March from Trido Township along with three others, Tsewang, Atse and Gyaltsen. The exact reasons, however, for the arrest was not known.
The exact date of the sentencing is not known. However, it is estimated that around 26 days have passed since the verdict was announced, media reports say.
After his arrest in March this year, several monks from the monastery have approached the local Chinese authorities urging them to release the detained monks.
