Abbas to Israel: Make peace with us and 57 other nations will follow

Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas said that if Israel "makes peace" with the Palestinian Authority, the rest of the Middle East will immediately begin relations with Israel, during an interview with Channel 10 on Wednesday.

"I say to the people of Israel: If you will make peace with us, we will come, along with 57 other Arab and Muslim countries that will immediately begin to recognize Israel and normalize relations."

He responded to increasing violence in the past week, where two people, including an infant, were killed by a Palestinian terrorist in Jerusalem, and the calls from Hamas encouraging a third intifada.

"We do not want an intifada. We are not calling for an intifada. If we were to call for one, it would have been during the 50 days of Operation Protective Edge. Has Prime Minister Netanyahu has already forgotten that during those 50 days, not a single bullet was fired from the West Bank?"

  2. Sweden recognises Palestinian state ...

STOCKHOLM: Sweden on Thursday (Oct 30) officially recognised the state of Palestine, Stockholm's foreign minister said, less than a month after the government announced its intention to make the controversial move.

"Today the government takes the decision to recognise the state of Palestine," Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom said in a statement published in the Dagens Nyheter daily. "It is an important step that confirms the Palestinians' right to self-determination," she said, adding that "we hope that this will show the way for others."

Sweden's new Prime Minister Stefan Loefven announced in his inaugural address to parliament in early October that his country would become the first EU member in western Europe to recognise a Palestinian state.................http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/sweden-recognises/1443484.html

  3. Israel Prohibits Access to Temple Mount Until Further Notice ....

Israel has decided to close access to the Temple Mount, located in the Old City of Jerusalem, to all visitors, including worshipers, until further notice after a right-wing activist was shot near the holy site, the Times of Israel reports, citing local police spokesman.

The directive to shut the site was issued by Moshe Edri, Jerusalem District Police Commander, and Yitzhak Aharonovich, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security. Police forces have been put on high alert across the country and additional units have been deployed to patrol Jerusalem, where Palestinians and Israelis have clashed daily.

A prominent right-wing activist Yehudah Glick was attacked shortly after giving a speech at a conference titled “Israel returns to the Temple Mount” at the Menachem Begin Center. He was shot three times in what police suspect might have been an assassination attempt. The attacker fled the scene on a motorcycle.......................http://en.ria.ru/world/20141030/194826832/Israel-Prohibits-Access-to-Temple-Mount-Until-Further-Notice.html

  4. Schweden erkennt Staat Palästina an ....

  5. ‘Declaration of war’: Abbas warns over 1st Al-Aqsa Jerusalem Mosque closure since 1967 ...

The Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem has been closed to all worshipers for the first time since 1967. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas called the closure a ‘declaration of war.’

Both Jewish and Muslim worshipers will be prohibited from visiting the site “until further notice,” Israel’s public security minister said. Following the announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered "a significant hike" in the number of police forces patrolling Jerusalem, Naharnet daily reports.

Palestinian authorities quickly responded to the move, saying it was a "dangerous and blatant challenge" that would lead to more tension and instability in an already volatile situation.

"This dangerous Israeli escalation is a declaration of war on the Palestinian people and its sacred places and on the Arab and Islamic nation," Abbas' spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina quoted him as saying.

"We hold the Israeli government responsible for this dangerous escalation in Jerusalem that has reached its peak through the closure of the Al-Aqsa mosque this morning," he told AFP.

He added that the state of Palestinian would employ all legal means to "hold Israel accountable" and put an end to "these ongoing attacks." ...............http://rt.com/news/200755-al-aqsa-mosque-closed/

  6. Temple Mount closed to visitors 2nd time in week after Palestinians, police clash ...

Israeli police have again closed access to the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem to Palestinian worshipers as clashes continue in the heart of the city. It comes a day after an Israeli minister said the mosque would be replaced with a Jewish temple.

The holy site has been a focus of tension since last week, when Israel closed it to Muslim worshipers.

Al-Aqsa, also known as the Temple Mount, is Islam’s third most-venerated site.

Israeli police closed it for the first time since 1963 in retaliation for the killing of a prominent right-wing Jewish activist, provoking outcry from the Arab population.

Access was renewed a day later, but males under 50 were still banned from entry................http://rt.com/news/202347-temple-mount-jerusalem-clashes/
