Putin, Hollande have meeting at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport

Presidents of Russia and France Putin and Hollande have begun a meeting at the governmental terminal of the Moscow Vnukovo airport.

The talks have not been pre-planned, and were agreed within last 24 hours.

Hollande is making a stop in Moscow on the way home from Kazakhstan, where he was on a two-day visit.

Vladimir Putin is confident the visit of France’s President Francois Hollande will favour settlement of many international problems.

“You have initiated meeting in Normancy to settle the problems you have mentioned. The problems are complicated, but still the discussion we have about them, still gives certain positive results, and I am sure that your visit today, so short, a working visit, will, no doubt, favour settlement of many problems,” Putin said opening a meeting with Hollande.
“Thank you for having found time on the way home, as we decided in Australia, to land in Moscow for a few minutes’ talk about the problems we are facing now and which we should settle,” Putin said. “I am so glad to see you. Welcome.”

Francois Hollande said: “Thank you for having found several minutes to talk to me today.”
“I believe at some moment it is necessary to overcome the obstacles, the walls, which may separate us, and I believe we can do this,” Hollande said.

“I was flying over Moscow and made a decision to stop over here for discussing the most significant issues related to Ukraine’s crisis and to all the sufferings stemming out of it for the Ukrainians, for the European Union and for Russia as well,” he said.

“The discussion we started within the G20 framework must go ahead,” Hollande said. “Russia and France are motivated to do it and they are willing it. On June 6 we spoke about an urgency to find solutions and to work together. We spoke with Angela Merkel. We think that Russia and France will definitely find an appropriate solution.”.

  1. Hollande says will inform Merkel, Poroshenko about his conversation with Putin ...

French President Francois Hollande has said that his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin held on Saturday at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport “will bring results in the coming days.”

“The meeting was held at a lucky moment and under lucky circumstances and will definitely bring results in the coming days,” Hollande told reporters aboard his plane en route to Paris.

“If on December 9 there is a confirmation that the ceasefire holds, we can view a possibility of going ahead with negotiations,” Hollande said. “However, if the conflict brings about victims in the coming two or three weeks, we’ll make certain conclusions.”

“If we cannot go ahead, we’ll come back to the Cold War times that were based on mutual threatening and extreme tendencies,” he said. “It can trigger dissociation with Russia.”

“I think a political dialogue is the most complicated item and it will take time to enhance it,” he said adding that the meeting “allowed to confirm the Minsk agreements goals.”

Hollande said that he will inform Germanys’ Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko about the contents of his conversation with Putin in the coming hours.

France, “taking into consideration its position on Mistrals /helicopter carries/, now has an opportunity to come forward with initiatives over Ukraine’s conflict.”

“At the talks we did not tackled this issue as it had no sense and each of us knew the answers,” he said. “So there is nothing surprising that after the talks Vladimir Putin mentioned compensations” in case the deliveries are cancelled................http://itar-tass.com/en/world/765574
