Militia forces take control of Donetsk airport (video YT:

Representatives of the Donbass militia stated that they had taken control of the Donetsk airport. Ukrainian security officials have not commented on the information yet. Intense fighting resumed in the area of the airport the day before. Kiev officials said that the Ukrainian troops would not leave the airport on the humanitarian corridor, RBC reports.

"Today, we can say that we have established control over the territory of the Donetsk airport and its surroundings," the Donetsk news agency reports with reference to the military department of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk.  "About a dozen of Ukrainian military men still remain in the ruins of the new airport terminal, but they have ceased to resist," the message also said.

In the near future, Ukrainian security forces will leave the terminal on the corridor that will be provided to them, said the militia.

The leader of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk, Alexander Zakharchenko, said the day before that militia forces control 95% of the territory of the airport. At a press conference, Zakharchenko said that the Ukrainian military were leaving the airport. In addition, he invited Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to hold talks at the building of the airport terminal.

Russian is concerned that a rotation by Kiev of front-line forces in eastern Ukraine could undermine peace efforts, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

"Any action related to military preparations does not help the process," Lavrov told a news conference. "We will hope that all this... does not lead to a renewed military confrontation."

  2. Events in Ukraine go under negative scenario — Russia’s Duma speaker ...

Events in Ukraine are going under a negative scenario as Kiev is stoking tensions by stepping up hawkish rhetoric, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, lower house of parliament, Sergey Naryshkin told on Friday a meeting of the house’s working group on legal analysis of Ukraine’s legislation.

“Unfortunately, the events in Ukraine are going under a negative scenario,” Naryshkin said. “Kiev is just fanning the situation by stepping up hawkish rhetoric and by multiple statements which contradict not only historic facts but even common sense, for instance [Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy] Yatsenyuk’s statement about the Soviet Union’s invasion into Nazi Germany and Ukraine during World War II.”..............http://itar-tass.com/en/russia/771568

  16. Ukraine airport battle intensifies, Russia against peace talks ...

Russian-backed insurgents on Tuesday assaulted the remnants of a Ukrainian force hanging onto a ruined airport near the rebels' main stronghold as Moscow poured cold water on the prospect of peace talks.

Blasts of incoming and outgoing artillery echoed all night across Donetsk -- a once bustling industrial city but now the crucible of one of Europe's worst humanitarian and diplomatic crises since the Cold War.

Rebel city administration member Ivan Prikhodko said two civilians were killed and eight seriously wounded when a shell hit a bus stop on the war-wrecked northwestern edge of town.

"The bus stop itself and a store nearby have been levelled," Prikhodko told AFP by telephone.

The past week's escalation in fighting and effective shredding of a repeatedly violated September truce has been accompanied by claims from Kiev's pro-Western government that 700 new Russian soldiers have deployed across the border into Ukraine's separatist east.
