Netanyahu to Obama: Iran deal puts Israel's future at risk

In a phone call to US president Barack Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Iranian nuclear deal framework could put Israel's future at risk if it was to be implemented, according to Mark Regev, the prime minister's spokesman.

In the talks, Netanyahu was said to have told Obama about Iran's recent comments that "the destruction of Israel is non-negotiable."

"In these fateful days Iran is accelerating the arming of its terror proxies to attack Israel," Netanyahu said in the call.

"This deal would legitimize Iran's nuclear program, bolster Iran's economy & increase Iran's aggression and terror," the premier said, adding that the deal makes Iran's path to a nuclear bomb easier.

"The alternative is standing firm and increasing the pressure on Iran until a better deal is achieved."

  1. Obama says Iran nuclear deal 'historic'...

President Barack Obama said Thursday that the U.S. and its negotiating partners have reached an "historic" understanding with Iran about its nuclear program.

"Today, after many months of tough principle diplomacy, we have achieved the framework for that deal. And it is a good deal, a deal that meets our core objectives," Obama said.

Obama spoke shortly after negotiators in Switzerland announced a general deal on Iran's nuclear program.

Nothing is finalized until the deal is signed, but once completed, it "will make our country, our allies and our world safer," Obama said. "If the framework leads to a final deal, it will make the U.S. and the world safer."

The agreement allows strong controls on Iran nuclear program for as much as 25 years, with severe limits during the first decade. Obama said the terms would now make Iran the "most inspected country in the world."...........http://www.aa.com.tr/en/news/487934--obama-says-iran-nuclear-deal-historic

  2. Israeli options limited despite warnings on Iran deal...

Israel has warned relentlessly against a nuclear deal with Iran but experts say Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's options are limited and immediate military action is unlikely.

Ahead of Thursday's announcement in Lausanne on the framework of a potentially historic deal, Netanyahu had said any agreement needed to "significantly roll back Iran's nuclear capabilities".

And repeating previous Israeli warnings, Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz said all options were open.

"If we have no choice, we have no choice... the military option is on the table," he said.

Israel has been the loudest opponent of reaching a deal that would leave Iran with atomic capabilities, saying any potential for a nuclear-armed Tehran threatens the Jewish state's very existence..............AFP..........http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/126783.aspx

  4. US gets ‘incredible deal’ offering Iran no real sanction relief...

The US is getting an absolutely incredible deal with Iran, receiving everything it wanted, while the Islamic Republic – after all concessions – was again placed at the mercy of IAEA, according to Hooshang Amirahmadi, President of American-Iranian Council.

RT: How do you think this deal could change the balance of power in the region?

Hooshang Amirahmadi: It has a long way to go, because the nuclear issue was isolated from other problems that the United States has with Iran, including the Arab-Israeli conflict, the very existence of Israel, terrorism issue, the human rights issue, and so on. And the Middle East is becoming increasingly more complicated as a place: A lot of failed states around, and many may even follow later on.

So it is a very complicated situation. And the US finds itself on different sides in different conflicts. And they are also not having a good time in the Middle East. My hope is, and everybody’s hope is, that the impact will be positive. But then again before it can have that positive impact, the US and Iran need to quickly move in the direction of normalizing relations. Otherwise there will be further problems that would impact negatively this very nuclear deal. I’m very concerned about the fact this Middle East context, which is a very dark, new geopolitics, will impact, will make this nuclear deal unsustainable..................http://rt.com/op-edge/246425-us-iran-incredible-deal/
