Israeli war jets attack Gaza in response to rockets firing

Israeli war jets struck early on Sunday with missiles a training facility that belongs to the armed wing of Hamas movement in southern Gaza Strip, according to security officials.

The security officials said no injuries reported in the training facility after it was struck with two heavy air-to-ground missiles, but the collapse of a nearby house caused by the powerful airstrikes on Hamas military post killed one and injured five.

The Israeli airstrike was an Israeli response to earlier rockets attack into Israel, according to an emailed Israeli army spokesman email.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza health ministry told reporters that a three-month pregnant woman and her four-year-old daughter were killed in the collapse of the building, and four of her other family members were inured.

The number of Palestinians killed rose to 11 and more than 100 were injured since Friday when nine were killed in the fierce clashes between sraeli soldiers and Palestinians on the borders of the Gaza Strip with Israel.

The Israeli army statement warned that the army won't allow more rockets to be fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel, adding that "Hamas is the address and it is fully responsible for it."

No one claimed responsibility for the three rockets fired overnight from the Gaza Strip into Israel, where two of the rockets landed into Israeli open areas causing no injuries or damages.

  •  The Israeli military says Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip have fired a rocket into southern Israel, amid a sharp increase in tensions.

A statement said sirens were triggered in Israeli communities near the border but the rocket landed in open countryside and no-one was hurt.

Earlier, six Palestinians were shot dead near the border fence with Gaza.

There has been a spate of attacks and confrontations between Palestinians and troops in recent days.

The military statement said the rocket was believed to have landed in a field not far from the border early on Saturday.

Gun and knife attacks by Palestinians have left four Israelis dead and many wounded since last weekend, while at least three Palestinians have been killed during clashes with security forces in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas which runs Gaza, said a new intifada - or uprising - was under way, although the BBC's Yolande Knell in Jerusalem says the scale of violence does not yet amount to that.

Palestinian medical sources said the six Palestinians were shot dead and many others wounded in two separate incidents in Gaza on Friday when Israeli troops opened fire.

The Palestinians had been protesting in solidarity with Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The Israeli military said more than 1,000 rioters had massed at the border fence, throwing a grenade and rocks, and rolling burning tyres at Israeli forces.

After firing warning shots, troops fired towards the "main instigators" to disperse the riot, a military statement said.

In Israel on Friday, police reported an apparently "nationalistic" attack by an Israeli, who they say stabbed two Israeli Bedouins and two Palestinians.

The attack in the southern city of Dimona was apparently in retaliation for stabbing attacks on Israeli Jews this week. The suspect was arrested...

  1. Woman, child killed in Gaza following Israeli airstrike...

A Palestinian woman and her daughter were killed by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah.

In a statement, the ministry said the woman's husband -- along with her three other children -- had also been injured when their home collapsed after Israeli warplanes struck a nearby site in Gaza.

The Israeli military, for its part, said it had responded to a rocket fired into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on Saturday night by targeting what it described as two Hamas “weapons factories”.

Since 2007, Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has governed the coastal enclave, which continues to groan under a years-long land and naval blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt.

Since Friday, 11 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. Most of them were killed when Israeli troops fired into crowds, which, the Israeli authorities claim, had approached the “security fence” that surrounds the blockaded enclave.

Another 12 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since the beginning of the month amid ongoing violence between Palestinians and Israeli security forces...............http://www.aa.com.tr/en/guncel/woman-child-killed-in-gaza-following-israeli-airstrike/437813
