Le Haut comité aux négociations (HCN), qui regroupe des opposants politiques et des groupes armés, va dépêcher "entre 30 et 35 personnes" en Suisse, a déclaré à l'AFP un de ses hauts responsables.
"J'ai de bonnes raisons de croire qu'ils envisagent très sérieusement d'être en mesure d'entamer les discussions, peut-être dimanche", a pour sa part indiqué l'émissaire de l'ONU pour la Syrie, Staffan de Mistura, à l'issue d'une rencontre avec la délégation du régime de Damas.
Le HCN, formé en décembre à Ryad, avait refusé d'entamer les négociations tant que les bombardements de civils et le siège de localités se poursuivraient. Mais ils ont obtenu des garanties "de la part des Nations unies et d'autres acteurs", a déclaré Farah Atassi, une opposante proche du HCN, lors d'une conférence de presse à Genève...

ReplyDeleteThe main Syrian opposition group, known as the Higher Negotiating Committee, or HNC, said it was boycotting the talks until it receives an official response from the United Nations about a list of concerns.
"The High Negotiations Committee (HNC) decided to participate in the Geneva talks after receiving American and United Nations guarantees," al-Hadath said.
A member of the HNC, Farah Atassi, said the delegation is coming "not to negotiate" but to talk to U.N. officials after receiving reassurances from the organization.
She did not say how many members would come, adding only that they will arrive Saturday.
Atassi spoke at a Geneva hotel not far from the U.N. offices where U.N. Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura and Syria's U.N. ambassador Bashar Ja'afari were meeting.
