Turkish Armed Forces uses Turkmens to protect the border area that is under ISIS and Al-Nusra control and used as a corridor for radical Islamist groups.

The Turkish Army placed 1200 armed Turkmens under the disguise of the Free Syrian Army in the villages of Kubri and Hırbe along the border in Jarablus in early January 2016.
The main duties of these armed Turkmens are to protect the TSK personnel operating here with different uniforms and to keep groups loyal to ISIS under control.

•  Turkey plans to use these groups in its efforts to document Russian air strikes in the region and use the information they gather for filing a complaint to the UN.

GROUPS IN COLLABORATION WITH TURKEY

In order to continue its relations with ISIS and Jabhat Al-Nusra, Turkey collaborates with the following groups:

Fırkeya Şimal, Diba Cebel Zavye, Furkat Sultan Murat, Kataib Sokur El-İslam, Foj Evel, Feylak Şam, Feylak Rahman, Ferkat Sahal Evvel, Ferkat 312, Kataib El-Erbain, Liva Şam Resul, Liva El-Hak, Ceyş El-Ermuk, Ceyş El-Mücahidin, Kataib Ensur El-Şam, Liva El-Eşer, Liva El-Huriya, Harekat Tahrir Hums, Ceyş El-Tevhit, Liva Şahada El-İslam, Ferkat Miharir El-Evval, Liva El-Sadik, Ferkat Salahattin, Kataib Suar Şam, Ferkat 24 Beşet, Cephat Ensar El-İslam, Ceyş El-Ezza, Ferka Essaniya Sahaliya and Liva El-Mutasim.

Turkey aims to prevent the passage of Democratic Syrian Forces to the west of the Euphrates through strengthening the above groups, who use heavy weaponry to attack Democratic Syrian Forces.

PROPAGANDA OF ‘TURKMENS ARE DYING’

The Turkish state began to disseminate propaganda suggesting that Turkmens on the border are being killed, which does not reflect the truth.

Leaders from the Turkmen community and the Jabhat Al-Akrad refute the claims of the Turkish state, and claim that groups that are tied to Turkey give humanitarian and military aid to civilians in their towns only if these civilians agree to fight against ISIS.

 Groups that are tied to Turkey also disseminate false information about the Russian air force in the region.
