Fierce battles are in progress across the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh. On Monday, April 4, according to RIA Novosti with reference to the Armenian defense Ministry.

“The situation on the frontline remains tense”, — said the head of the press service of the defense Ministry of Azerbaijan Vagif Dargahi.
Earlier the Armenian defense Ministry said that the Azerbaijani armed forces resumed shelling of Nagorno Karabakh on the morning of 4 April.
On 3 April, the Azerbaijani defense Ministry announced the decision to unilaterally cease hostilities. However, the press Secretary of NKR defense army, Senor Hasratyan said that the fighting in the Karabakh conflict zone continues.
The truce in the Karabakh conflict zone has been breached on the night of 2 April.
Nagorno-Karabakh, populated mostly by ethnic Armenians, declared independence from Azerbaijan in 1991. Baku tried to bring the region under its control through military operations, but failed. In 1994, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was signed with the mediation of Russia, the Bishkek Protocol on ceasefire.
