Moodys downgrades UK economic outlook to 'negative'. Corbyn is under pressure to step down as Leader with a motion of no confidence

As the political fallout of the Brexit vote continues credit rating agency Moodys has downgraded the UK's economic outlook to negative.

The agency said the decision to leave the European Union would now mean a prolonged period of uncertainty.

Later this morning Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will also give a speech setting out his view for a UK outside of the EU.

  • Mr Corbyn is under pressure to step down as Leader with a motion of no confidence in him due to be discussed at a Parliamentary Party meeting on Monday evening.
  • There will also be an emergency meeting of the Scottish cabinet this morning.

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said it would be democratically unacceptable for it to be taken out of the EU, just two years after it had opted not to become independent.

Corbyn is expected to deliver a speech Saturday afternoon outlining the party's future direction, but his aides deny speculation that he will announce his resignation.

Senior Labour MPs Margaret Hodge and Ann Coffey tabled a no confidence motion on Friday.

Hodge said that the EU referendum had been a "test of leadership" that Corbyn had "failed" and left Labour voters "not getting a clear message".....http://www.i24news.tv/en/news/international/europe/117891-160625-aides-deny-labour-leader-corbyn-will-resign-in-wake-of-brexit
