Turkey imposes temporary foreign travel ban for civil servants — media

Turkish civil servants will be temporarily banned from leaving the country, NTV television reported on Monday citing a relevant government order.

According to news reports, the move stems from the ongoing investigation into the coup attempt that occurred overnight on July 16.

The foreign travel ban applies to all government agencies employees, with the exception of those officially sent to work abroad.

Holders of diplomatic and official passports will have to submit an official document indicating the company issuing the overseas business trips.

Ordinary citizens are free to leave Turkey. However, they will have to hand in an official notice of departure from a social security agency.
