Indonesia wanted to rename the South China sea for the sake of sovereignty

The Indonesian authorities plan to rename one of the sections of the South China sea for the sake of preserving sovereignty. About it reports The South China Morning Post.


Renaming will undergo a zone of 200 nautical miles from the Islands Bunguran (also known as the island Natuna) — it will be called sea Natuna. The representative of the Indonesian authorities to combat illegal fishing Achmad Santosa (Santosa Ahmad) said that the initiative for the change of name will be submitted to the UN, and if none of the members of the organization do not mind, it will be considered accomplished.

The mayor of the archipelago Hamid rizal (Rizal Hamid) explained that the renaming is necessary so that people around the world knew that the Islands and surrounding waters belong to Indonesia. In addition, the measure should help to combat illegal fishing in the region.
