The state border service of Ukraine pulled reserves, including heavy weapons to the border with the Crimea. This was stated by the head of Department Viktor Nazarenko, reports “Interfax-Ukraine” on Saturday, August 13.
“We pulled reserves, including heavy weapons, and continued this work. We also conducted several other activities with the local population and our staff, aimed at improving the combat readiness in this direction,” — said Nazarenko.
Also, the official added that the Ukrainian authorities “are ready for any development of events.”
In addition, Nazarenko confirmed that the state border service jointly with the OSCE has developed a plan for regaining control over the boundary line (on the East of the country — ed. “Of the tape.ru”) in the case of implementation of the Minsk agreements. “This plan really is. We do not deny that it exists. (…) This idea of the President of Ukraine, it is that given the actual situation there is a possibility to involve the police, the OSCE mission and in stages on the basis of the Minsk agreements to establish control of the border with Russia, which is now not controlled,” he said.
On Friday, August 12, Vice President of the United States Joe Biden during a telephone conversation with the head of state urged Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko to refrain from escalation of tensions with Russia. A similar request Biden appealed to Moscow.
On 11 August the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko ordered to bring in the high combat readiness of all units of law enforcement agencies on the border with Crimea on the contact line of the conflicting parties in the Donbass. Such order the head of state gave after reports about the detention of Ukrainian saboteurs in the Crimea.
On 10 August the Federal security service of Russia said that in the Crimea disclosed a network of agents of the Ukrainian military intelligence. On the night of August 7 near Armyansk was discovered by a group of saboteurs, during the arrest, which killed a border guard. The next night, units of the Ukrainian forces tried to break into the territory of the Crimea under cover of fire, killing a Russian soldier.
