Former Socialist leader and ex-President of Portugal Mario Soares died on Saturday at the age of 92.
The former leader died at the Red Cross Hospital in the capital where he was admitted on Dec. 13, 2016.
Soares, founder of the Portuguese Socialist Party and key figure in the nation's transition to democracy, held office as President of Portugal between 1986 and '96 and was prime minister for two terms.
