Three troopers killed in attack on military camp in Indian-controlled Kashmir

At least three Indian troopers, including an officer and two militants, were killed Thursday after militants attacked a military camp in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The attack was carried out in Panzgam village of frontier Kupwara district, close to Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir, about 106 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"In an attack this morning on our camp, two militants were killed," Indian military spokesman Col. Rajesh Kalia told Xinhua. "Three of our soldiers, including an officer, have also been martyred fighting the militants."

Heavy gunfire was going on between the two sides and further details are awaited, officials said.
