US lawmaker calls for Trump impeachment

Rep. Al Green became the first lawmaker to officially call for Congress to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday, telling the House of Representatives he "will not be moved".

Speaking on the House floor, the Texas Democrat said Trump should be impeached for "obstruction of justice".

"I do not do this for political purposes," Green said in remarks directed to House Speaker Paul Ryan. "I do it because, Mr. Speaker, there is a belief in this country that no one is above the law, and that includes the President of the United States of America."

Green's call comes amid allegations that Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey to terminate an investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's Russia contacts.
