The death toll from the powerful magnitude-7.1 earthquake that rocked central Mexico this week has risen to 286, the national emergency management chief said Friday.
Civil Protection Coordinator Luis Felipe Puente said in his latest report that 148 people were confirmed dead in Mexico City, up from 137 in the previous tally.
