  1. Turkey, Iraq to carry out joint operation against PKK in Iraq: Turkish FM...

Turkey and Iraq's central government in Baghdad will carry out a joint operation against the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Thursday.

Çavuşoğlu's comments came as Turkey pushes ahead with a cross-border military operation against the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria's Afrin region.

The YPG is the armed wing of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), which is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
