Militants in Daraa Hand Over Weapons to Syrian Army - Tasnim News Agency

(Tasnim) – Militants in the city of Daraa continued to surrender their weapons to Syrian military on Thursday as part of the state's planned settlement deal, in the al-Mahata neighborhood.

According to a report by SANA, settlement operations has been going on this week and militants have continued to hand over their weapons in al-Mahata police station (al-Saraya) in Daraa city, as part of the government’s efforts to reach a peaceful solution that provides for ending the concerning situation in the city and expelling the militants.

In preparation for the deployment of army forces and the return of state institutions to all neighborhoods in Daraa city, multiple settlement centers will be opened in various regions to finish the processes of settling the status of the former militants and handing over their weapons to the Syrian Arab Army.

On Wednesday, 209 individuals whom handed over their weapons to the authorities in the settlement center of Daraa al-Arba'ain Balad's district have been able to settle their status.

For several weeks, the Syrian government has been striving to restore security and stability in Daraa province, prioritizing nonviolent solutions in order to save civilian lives and maintain infrastructure.
