UN ‘must reject’ Taliban’s application

 To admit the Taliban to the United Nations is tantamount to saying that terrorism is an effective tool in international diplomacy, according to Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“In my view, there should be no consideration of giving the Taliban a place at any diplomatic table until they have a basic commitment to upholding the dignity of all humanity,” Mr Bernardi said.

“Working against my idea is the inconvenient truth that the United Nations includes a whole bunch of terrible regimes already, and they all fail the basic decency test.

“However, preventing an egregious error from happening is actually the best form of defence; that is what the United Nations needs to do next week.

“They need to reject the application of the Taliban to join the ranks of an organisation supposedly committed to global freedom and peace.”
