A statement announced Rayan Oram’s death soon after he was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
King Mohammed VI called Rayan’s parents to extend his condolences following the tragic accident.
Rayan had been in a 32-meter (105-foot) deep dry well since Tuesday in Igran in the Chefchaouen region.
Desperate rescuers had been struggling to get Rayan out of the well.

Workers retrieved the body of a young boy who was trapped for five days in a well in northern Morocco, a devastating end to a painstaking operation that gripped the nation.

The 5-year-old was finally pulled from the well on Saturday night. Earlier in the operation, the rescuers supplied Rayan with oxygen and water using tubes. According to Moroccan media reports, the child had a head injury. When he was finally taken into an ambulance, his condition was not immediately clear.
