"We sympathize with the Ukrainian people, who deserve a much better life. We are sorry that Ukrainian history is being ruined before our eye and we are sorry for those who have yielded to the Kiev regime’s state propaganda and for those who support this regime, which wants Ukraine to be Russia’s eternal enemy," Lavrov said during a meeting with the ambassador of the Arab League member nations in Cairo, TASS reported.
"The Russian and Ukrainian peoples will continue to live together. We will help the Ukrainian people get rid of the absolutely anti-popular and anti-historic regime," he pledged.
Russia values the balanced position of the Arab League member states on the situation in Ukraine, Lavrov added.
"We value the balanced, fair and responsible position of the Arab League members," he said.
He recalled that an Arab League’s contact group visited Moscow in April to discuss this problem.
"We are open for the continuation of such dialogue with our friends in the Arab League and in other parts of the world. We have nothing to hide," Lavrov stressed.
According to the Russian top diplomat, Moscow is interested in promoting partnership and economic cooperation with the Arab League, and in joint efforts on regional matters, such as the situation around Palestine.
