Ukraine’s former security service chief detained

Employees of Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine(SBU) have detained the former head of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine , Zelenskyy has said, adding he received the news on Sunday night.

“This person was dismissed by me at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and as we can see, that decision was completely justified. Sufficient evidence has been collected to notify this person of suspicion of treason,” the president said in his nighttime address without giving a name.

“Everyone who together with him was part of a criminal group that worked in the interests of the Russian Federation will also be held accountable. It is about the transfer of secret information to the enemy and other facts of cooperation with the Russian special services,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, Zelenskyy issued executive orders sacking Ukraine’s prosecutor general and the current head of the powerful SBU, saying he did so because many cases had come to light of members of their agencies collaborating with Russia.
