Hellenic Council YSEE: Placing Plato above Aristotle - The Case of Plethon Gemistos

The Hellenic Council YSEE of America would like to invite you to join us on June 8th at the Stathakion Center in Astoria, New York for what promises to be an informative and eye-opening lecture on Plethon Gemistos by Dr. Christos C. Evangeliou.

For those unfamiliar with Plethon Gemistos, he was a Neo-Platonist philosopher in the late Eastern Roman Empire. Plethon was the chief pioneer behind the revival of Hellenic education in Western Europe.

Dr. Christos C. Evangeliou is a Professor of Philosophy at Towson University, Maryland, where he teaches, among other subjects, Ancient Greek Philosophy, Medieval & Hellenistic Philosophy.
He holds degrees in Classics and Philosophy from the University of Athens, Greece, and Emory University, USA, respectively. He is the American Representative of the International Center of Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Research, based in Athens, Greece. Dr. Evangeliou is the author of several books and numerous scholarly papers.
